Such acts became a highlight of Spitz's live performances. He would also play the bass's melody purely on impulse as he improvises. He is known to go on a spree of violence all of a sudden during songs like "Ore no Subete" and "8823", attacking the drum set with his bare hands, running all over the stage, jumping into the crowd of fans, attacking his bass until the strap falls off, etc. He says that he just 'plays with his heart without thinking too deeply". Because of that, they always put a heavy bassline that is elaborate and complex. Spitz's music is known for their smooth flowing, simple melodies. He was the main composer of the songs "Ore no Akai Hoshi" and "Houkiboshi". He has co-composed most of the tracks in the albums "Indigo Chiheisen" and "Hayabusa". Spitz's indie album song "Happy Day" was dubbed by hand, courtesy of Tamura. He's also a great friend of John B Chopper (a bassist in a band called Ulfus) and has helped John make a revival for Ulfus. When Nakayama heard that the Tamura in Spitz was in fact the same Tamura he went to school with, he responded "That quiet and plain Tamura?" in surprise.

He was high school friends with Nakayama Masashi (A professional football player). He is a fan of hard rock and heavy metal music. His friendship with Kusano began because they were both fans of Uriah Heap. He is a fan of legendary bassists like Steve Harris (Iron Maiden), John Deacon (Queen) and Micheal Schenker (Scorpions) He once said that his "favorite band in Japan in Spitz, but his favorite band in the world is Queen." There was a time when his boss scolded him for spending more time playing video games than making music. His ideal image of a woman is someone that is shorter than him. He joked that if anyone wanted him to work hard, they should offer him curry rice. His favorite dish is Japanese curry with rice which he admits that he used to eat them for breakfast, lunch and dinner. His favorite tea leaves are the ones from his home town of Shizuoka. He is passionate about tea and often drinks a wide range of raw herbal tea. He loves gambling in horse races and casinos. He loves watching sports such as soccer matches. He formed another band called MOTORWORKS (which contained other popular artists) of which he is the leader, bassist and guitar solo director. After regaining his confidence and wanting to find their own unique voice, the band we now know as Spitz was formed. Their good friendship soon leads them to start a new band, the Spitz, which was short-lived, due to Kusano losing confidence in his abilities. Tamura and Kusano remained good friends as Kusano constantly came over to Tamura's house to play video games, even as Kusano started enrolling in a new college. They quickly hit it off, formed a band together called 'Cheaters' (with another drummer they refer to as Mr.A) and became a part of the "heavy sound" music circle. He studied at Tokyo University of Art and Design where he met vocalist Kusano Masamune. He had an excellent performance academically in high school, but was devoted towards his musical activities. He was a member of the ping pong club in middle school. The first bass he brought was a violin bass. Unfortunately, Tamura Band was short-lived as Miwa had to be transferred to another school.

He then formed a band with Miwa and another school-mate and called it the 'Tamura Band' where he was in charge of playing bass. He met lead guitarist Miwa Tetsuya in elementary school when the latter transferred into his school.
